After the shootout at the Richmond ranch, Jake is certain that Beck will finally give Goetz the punishment he deserves. Beck tells Jake that he is leaving immediately because of major discord in New Bern and the Goetz issue will have to wait. Jake knows that Mimi's life is in danger because not only does she hold the information that could get Goetz fired, she saw Goetz and his men murder Bonnie. The Rangers barricade themselves into the hospital to protect Mimi while she is being operated on and Goetz and his men take position outside the hospital. It's a race against the clock as Jake and the rangers try to hold out until Beck returns while Goetz and his men try to take care of things before Beck returns.
